Anyone else have a child(ren) in private speech therapy? My boys both are and I'm not unhappy with our speech therapist (she's their old public school therapist who's doing private therapy with us on the side), but I'm kinda thinking of trying to find a therapist who can have sessions during the "school" day instead of after 3.
I've also been doing therapy with them myself using Super Star Speech. I think it's a pretty good speech program for homeschool parents. It's written by a former SLP turned homeschool parent. I recently supplemented that with No Glamour Articulation. I really like that book too.

Heather, we don't deal with this specific issue, but we do have our own issues! I have found that with the type of therapy my son receives, it's ALWAYS better to do during the school day.
Also, there are so many great speech therapists out there, it should be very easy to find a new one!
Good luck!

Amanda, do you happen to know any private speech therapists in Mobile? I've called USA's speech office and they have such a long waiting list.

Heather,
My DD Brandi was in speech also through the public school system. She started at 4 and was in 5th grade before they removed her.
Kenny did not talk until he was 3. I had him tested at the beginning of the school year after his 3rd birthday as his speech was so bad. when we moved in the middle of the year his new therapist was never there for his therapy.
It was that year that I decided to homeschool Dustin so I went ahead and pulled Kenny out of therapy also. I gave him the year off and we just worked with letters and sounds. For kindergarten we just did reading. We took it slow and I made sure he was properly enunciating all his sounds.
Most people cannot detect that he ever had a speech problem now. Of course, he was recently diagnosed with both dyslexia and disgraphia so that is a whole new experience.
