Has anyone used Multiplication in a Flash or any other similar method for quick/easy recalling of multiplication tables? Here's a link to see Multiplication in a Flash: www.amazon.com/Multiplication-Flash-Alan-Walker/dp/0965176975I am tutoring a friend's son in math this summer. He is going into 6th grade, but doesn't know all of his multiplication tables. I'm buying flash cards tomorrow and probably a cd with the times tables to music as well. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Hmm, no I have not tried that but I will look into it. I have used Times Tales and it works great. It is only for #s 6-9 though.

I haven't heard of that, but I did get the right brain multiplication cards from Dianne Craft to help my 4th grader. He struggled to memorize them too, and while he still gets stuck on about three particular multiplication problems, all I have to do is say "hungry bear" (for 7x6) and he immediately recalls the answer, so I know it's only matter of time before those three are also permanently stored in his memory. The cards definitely helped him with the other problems too. stores.diannecraft.org/Categories.bok?category=Flashcards

I tried Times Tales. It didn't work well for us. My favorite is just some songs from Barnes and Nobles called "Skip Counting" they have a Bible Heroes one and a generic one. My kids loved it. We also used School House Rock videos and my kids enjoyed those too. Some of the songs worked better than others. We just sang the songs over and over and the kids really picked it up fast. I have one child that has really bad memory problems and if he didn't do the skip counting we would have never done any math because I was at my whits end trying things. I think everyone should use the skip counting!

Math-U-See uses skip counting. When my oldest was in school we used the School House Rocks videos and my middle child (6 years younger) was learning the songs with her.
