There are all kinds of coverings in the Mobile area, not to mention the state. Some are hands off, where some are all up in your business. While others are more middle of the road. I think first and foremost you need to understand the laws in AL and what is required of you as a parent. AL is a compulsory attendance state not compulsory education. No one can tell you how to educate your children legally but what they can require of you is attendance. Many coverings require you to keep attendance records, or recorded days that you do "school work". My kids are never absent from homeschool, and so *I* personally think keeping a log of days, when only absents are to be reported is a bit much. Technically my kids are in "home"school 365 days a year. I chose a middle of the road covering for my first covering that required grades, attendance, but was pretty much hands off in other areas. Many coverings require statements of faith. Some do not. Some require both parents to sign it, some only require one. So if you are in a marriage or relationship where one or both of you are not Christians than you would need to find a covering that respects that. (there is only one Jewish covering in the state for example, but several coverings that are more secular or open to other faiths or no faith) I am going with a strictly hands off covering after four years of homeschooling. By doing so, I take on the full responsibility of record keeping, etc. Not everyone is going to feel comfortable in doing that.
I have a list of Mobile and Baldwin County coverings and coverings that cover state wide. I would be happy to email you a copy of them if you would like.

Sorry to highjack this thread, but....
Kim where did you get your list? I have a list I re-worked and updated when the Maxwell family came in the fall. I actually got it from Sara Maxwell.
I've used it as an aid for a couple of people interested in homeschooling and would love to compare it to yours.
